The William L. McCulley III

Best Paper Award

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Tennessee Association for Institutional Research (TENNAIR) joins the higher education community in remembering the life of Bill McCulley who was killed in a plane crash April 21, 2000. Bill, his wife Cindy, his two small children, Ryan and Megan, and his father-in-law, Ira Walden, were killed in a plane crash while traveling to visit family in Virginia. Bill gave so much, not only to TENNAIR, but to the profession of higher education as well. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, integrity, dedication, and love for his family. Bill McCulley will be sadly missed.

At the annual conference on August 11, 2000, members of the Tennessee Association for Institutional Research voted and approved that as a lasting memorial to Bill, the TENNAIR Best Paper Award be named The William L. McCulley III Best Paper Award.

A committee of reviewers, appointed by the Chair, will comprise the Best Paper Committee. The Committee will select a Best Paper from among those presented at each TENNAIR conference. A plaque recognizing the William L. McCulley III Best Paper Award will be presented at the TENNAIR conference the following year.

The authors of the Best Paper are invited to present at The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Forum following the TENNAIR conference, in further recognition of the presenters, the paper, and TENNAIR.
